Nathanaëlle Herbelin's figurative works are marked by their profoundly human dimension: the artist gives an important place to everyday life, which she wraps in poetry and sensitivity. Portraits of her relatives, genre scenes brought up to date, still lifes using the most contemporary objects of our daily lives or even desert landscapes are part of her personal vocabulary. With her delicate touch, her distinctive chromatic palette reminiscent of certain frescoes, Nathanaëlle Herbelin tells intimate stories and opens up a universe in which time seems suspended, as if she wanted to show memories or parts of her own memory or build bridges between the intimate and the social.

This bilingual French-English publication traces the artist's work from her beginnings on the French and international scene to recent works dating from 2025. Six texts - by Caroline Bourgeois, Emanuele Coccia, Henry-Claude Cousseau, Nicolas Gausserand, Loïc Le Gall and Anaël Pigeat - and an interview with the artist by Guslagie Malanda punctuate the book in order to provide some keys to reading his prolific work: the poetics of her painting, the question of time, of memory, of space, of the landscape and its geography, of light, of intimacy and openness, and, of course, of her relationship to drawing and photography.
