Laura Lamiel
Born in 1943 in Morlaix, Laura Lamiel now lives and works in Le Pré-Saint-Gervais. Since the 1980s, she has been building a body of work characterized by great unity, fueled by an exploration of perception, emotional states, and the relationship between the intimate and the collective. Her early experiments, beginning in 1985, focused on small enameled steel modules that she arranged into understated compositions, thereby exploring monochromatic representation and seeking alternatives to minimalism. In the 1990s, she enriched these structures with heterogeneous materials (carpet, synthetic fur, gloves, ribbons). Her work gradually shifted toward more rigid objects drawn from everyday urban life, which she staged in installations blending geometric forms and functional elements. Lamiel has exhibited her work in numerous institutions, including La Verrière in Brussels (2015), Cahn Kunstraum in Basel (2021), and the Coimbra Biennial (2022).
