The first-ever monograph on Bruno Rousseaud’s work.
For the past twenty years the world of cars has been a constant for Bruno Rousseaud’s art. From this coherent formal universe, from which the artist extracts his components, a group of deceptively familiar polymorphous works has emerged, composed of number plates, sanded car bonnets and reflective windscreens, piles of studded tyres and slit rear-view mirrors. Erected as sculptures or mimicking pictures, his works subvert the axiom of cars and make use of pictograms, oxymorons and borrowed slogans, and a number of peremptory adjectives that betray the emergence of a singular
language. Decoding.
