This book was published for the artist’s exhibition at the Musée Guimet, in Paris in 2011.
From an explosion of colors and materials, piling together a composite of natural and manufactured goods pile, arises a world full of hybrid and poetical creatures. This « anti-portmanteau » fabulous, delicate and threatening shows traces of multiple cultures and myths which have inspired Rina Banerjee. She invites the reader-visitor to question what may compose his own identity or culture and his often-difficult relation to other cultures he might encounter or confront in this era of globalisation.
With the images comes a text by Rina Banerjee and an essay by Laura Steward (art historian and curator of contemporary art exhibitions) and Caroline Arhuero (in charge of the contemporary art collection of the Musée Guimet and curator of the exhibition).
A limited edition is available for this book composed of a signed and numberd copy of the catalogue along with and enhanced drawing.
