Thomas
Houseago

Born 1972 in Leeds (England), Thomas Houseago now lives and works in Los Angeles. His sculptures combine traditional media (wood, plaster, clay and bronze) and less conventional ones (steel cables, canvas and cement). Often roughly worked, suggesting their manufacturing process, these human forms alternating planes and volumes produce an impression of vulnerability, but also power. The artist’s most recent exhibitions were held at the Centre Pompidou—Metz (Sculptures for Lovers, Metz, France, 2022), the Sara Hilden Art Museum (Tampere, Finland, 2022), Gagosian Gallery (Houseago/Rodin, London, UK, 2021), the Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium (Brussels, Belgium, 2021), and Xavier Hufkens Gallery (Brussels, Belgium).
