Christian Boltanski, born in Paris in 1944, is now recognised as one of the leading contemporary French artists. Christian Boltanski uses photography, video and installation. The remains, the forgotten, the minuscule give his work a monumental sense of order and commemoration. Following Anselm Kiefer and Richard Serra, Christian Boltanski was given the next edition of Monumenta in the nave of the Grand Palais, Paris, in January 2010.
