Mira Schor (born in the United States, 1950) is an artist and art critic with a unique position on the contemporary art scene. After taking part in the Feminist Art Program at CalArts and the Womanhouse in the early 1970s - one of the most famous artistic projects in the history of feminist art - she decided to focus at the crossroads of language and painting. With the support of her many critical texts, she transformed painting into a feminist medium in its own right. Her work reflects both her theoretical preoccupations and her formalist interests. In her view, visual language is not a means of illustrating political battles, but rather an example of what the female artist's gaze might produce - specifically her own, when she instils a set of intimate narratives in her works.

The "Moon Room" exhibition at the Bourse de Commerce brings together works on rice paper by the artist from the second half of the 1970s. Fragile presences, the masks and dresses are associated with highly intimate handwritten texts: her dreams and her own interpretations, as well as reflections on the Holocaust and political writings. The words, inscribed on the backs of the sheets, reflect the artist's passion for language, appearing here discreetly, transparent, lost in the different layers of material of the painted forms. In these works on paper, the only traces left of the feminine body are its active, thinking nature, the barely visible and above all illegible writing - seen as an image.

Little Blue (1977) is an UltraChrome inkjet print on Hahnemühle Museum Etching paper, produced from an original mask from the series. The limited edition confronts the front and back of the same mask to offer a new reading of the drawing. The print is being released as part of a collaboration between Éditions Dilecta and the Pinault Collection to coincide with the artist's "Moon Room" exhibition at the Bourse de Commerce (October 2023 - March 2024).
