In the Remake series, Nicolas Dhervillers captures tiny details from skies by the great masters of the 19th century in order to redraw them in pastel, using a simple pantone of colours. A true attempt at recreation, a literal «remake», these are new images that the artist offers us. From what was only decoration in the source-work springs a powdery and velvety matter, shaped by the light, subject of the new work. Stormy, crepuscular or sea-green, these skies offer so many incitements to reverie, openings towards a different world or moment.
