Monchicourt

Mikaël Monchicourt, born in 1986, lives and works in Paris (France). His process is one of assembling and erasing, accumulation and distortion. Hence, beneath a smooth surface of resin, one can discern a combination of disparate elements and various techniques: paint, ink, printing, glue, aluminum, Rhodoïd and so on. Using diverse chemical components and water, the artist then disrupts the whole equilibrium by creating cracks, brightening, vibrations of the surface ranging from a slight fluctuation of the lines and forms to their total liquefaction. The gaze is attracted to the interweaving of layers and the viewer, to consider the artwork as a palimpsest.

Mikaël Monchicourt is represented by the galerie Isabelle Gounod and is part of the artist runspace Le Houloc.
